Christmas shopping – who needs it? The massive crowds, the Christmas carols on repeat, the compulsive buying of stuff that the giver probably can’t afford and the recipient probably does not want. Hellish. So you may well ask what on earth possessed me to grab my handbag and head for Westfield Stratford City on the first Saturday last December, arguably the busiest day in Europe’s largest urban shopping centre.

Tonia is the UK face of Greek cooking and has been making authentic Greek dishes for more than 20 years. Tonia has her own award winning series ‘My Greek kitchen’ on cable TV, and also a book ‘Tonia’s Greek Kitchen.’ She gave us a flavour of the dishes she enjoyed in her mother’s kitchen, which she’s now bringing to The Real Greek.

I have a busy end of the month coming up, I’m off to Cyprus to film a web-film for www.prestigegroup.com look them up they are great and i hope to be working a lot with them. The VT is going to be so much fun to shoot, I’ll be tweeting pictures all the time, especially when I get to drive some of their amazing sports cars and fly off in a helicopter!!!

I will also be co-hosting the Time Out Food Awards, Cyprus with Lori Louizides, on the 28th November. Time Out always do great events which I’m sure is going to be star studded and full of fun, though I have a feeling I’m going to be Lori’s comedy fodder!!!

I’ll let you all know how it goes…

Can I say a big thank you to Wilton’s Patisserie for hosting my book signing on Friday it was great.

On Sunday I was at St Nektarious’s Church in Battersea, WOW can I say how lovely are the South London Cypriots!!!

Thank you for an amazing day… I do though want to poach Father Chris & his lovely family, we want him to be our local priest!

Growing up with a Cypriot grandmother has its perks when it comes to good grub. Born and raised in Lûricina, my grandparents came to England with a mission to teach their cuisine through a mix of fresh ingredients and hard graft.

Arriving in 1952, they opened a café in a prime location in Camden town to do just this. Lacing their Mediterranean roots into British classics, customers came in thick and fast and they were soon comfortably content that they’d completed the task in hand.

It all went wonderfully well at my press launch which was held at the Real Greek in Westfields Shepard’s Bush.

As you can see from the pictures the food was amazing. I had some gorgeous celebrities too who are all now cooking Greek, Kate Garraway, Linsey De Paul and especially Mathew Bose who has already posted a picture and masterclass on how to make spanakopitta on his twitter and web page!

I have been given a commission by the wonderful people at Channel 5, which is amazing news, just need to sort out the little issue of sponsors and we are off!

I will be travelling to Cyprus once a month to film 2 breakfast shows and a 3 slot location shoots for PIK 1 and their amazing in house Chef Stephanos who is a complete gentleman and darling, I’m really looking forward to working with him.

I am also talking to the totally rejuvenated The Real Greek restaurants, and may be working with them soon, very excited about that prospect.

Look out for Tonia’s Greek Meals too, its in it’s embryonic stage at the moment but a real dream of mine.

As usual in the Buxton household it has been total chaos…

But fun!

I have just got back from a lovely week in Cyprus where I was working for PIK 1 TV station. I had a bit of a surprise, I was asked on to the new Elida Show to talk about My Greek & Cypriot Kitchen series and the next thing I know half my family turn up!! It was emotional to say the least!

I also did a cookery event for The Cypriot Tourist Office of Larnaka. It really was great fun, I did a cookery demonstration at the Beach Promenade of Finigoues, with an amazing turn out of people.

So the book is finally ready and will be available from this site from 10th October, I hope you all like it as it really has a piece of my heart & soul in it. Full of family pictures, food and all the recipes from all 3 series.

As always I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for your warmth and encouragement.
